Report: Canada can service 5 more Russian turbines for N Stream
MOSCOW, Jul 13 (PRIME) -- Canada can service or repair five more turbines for Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream within two years while exemption from sanctions is in force, the Globe and Mail reported on Wednesday, citing sources.
The Foreign Ministry allowed Siemens Energy to provide services for the turbines for two more years, exempting the activity from sanctions, but the agreement can be terminated anytime.
A turbine that was earlier in repair was sent to Europe, the newspaper reported.
Before the pipeline’s suspension for maintenance, Russian gas giant Gazprom pumped less than half of the pipeline’s maximum capacity to Germany because of Siemens’ inability to return the Portovaya compressor station’s turbines from Canada after repairs because of the anti-Russian sanctions.
